Benefit from new functionalities from our global adventure

Offering a standard solution with which we create value for logistics service providers. That has been our goal for years. And, after becoming an established name in the Netherlands, more and more logistic companies outside of the Dutch borders recognize the value of 3PL Dynamics to their processes. The result? 3PL Dynamics is now used in 18 countries. Worldwide. That also brings benefits for you. Because during this global adventure, our consultants and partners continuously come across new ways of providing logistics services. Some of them demand new functionalities. Functionalities that you can apply in your own processes too. In this blog, we dive into some of the functionalities coming from projects around the world.
Apply different units directly
While we in Europe use units such as kilogram and meter, in the United States, other units are used. Also in the logistics industry. Often, forwarders in the US work for example with both meters and inches. Therefore, for our customers in the US, the conversion factor was introduced. This is a way to show both meters as inches directly in the software. But when your company is not based in the US, you can still use this functionality in your processes. Do you, for example, have customers that use other units? Or does your holding have a site in the US? Then, with the help of the conversion factor, you can easily display not only the units kilogram and meter but also pounds or miles. In that case, you choose one value (unit of measure) as System Unit, the unit you work in, and one as Display Unit. This last one is then directly shown behind the System Unit in another value. And meanwhile, the choice in all these different units is huge.
More grip on your contracts with templates and instances
In Iceland, we came across a less country-specific functionality. In this specific project, multiple local customers all had different processes, which made contract management extremely important for the logistics service provider at the scene. With the development of ‘instances’ as a result. With these instances, you can copy a template (default contract) and create an instance that you link to the customer. In that way, you can easily create new contracts. Of course, copying a contract was already possible via ‘copy contract’. However, with instances, there are new functionalities that help you automatically make changes from the main contract. That saves time when you apply many different agreements with your customers. Find out how to use this functionality yourself in the video below.
Do you want to see what instances are hanging under a template? Then, you can use the button ‘Contract Instances’.
Display discounts on sales invoices
The next functionality is also from Iceland. However, you can easily adopt this functionality into your processes as well. Now, it is possible to add discounts on a contract line, detail line, and quantity. That means that the discount percentage is directly calculated on the document. And is therefore directly shown on the sales invoice. In that way, your customer can for example see that he has received a 10 % discount on the trip. The rule is that the discount on the most detailed level will be used for the calculations.
You can find the discount on the revenue line of the TMS order.
Then, you will find the revenue line that is used in the order on the contract. Including the Unit Price, Line Discount, and Line Amount.
