How to use the CMR editor in 3PL Dynamics?

A CMR waybill is an inseparable part of the high-paced and rigidly scheduled world of roadway transportation and delivery logistics. With 3PL Dynamics, you of course have the ability to create and print your own CMR. But were you aware of the existence of our dedicated CMR Editor? It is a functionality which enables you to customize your CMR. The benefit of the CMR Editor is that it allows you to very flexibly determine the content of the CMR for your results. In this blog, we show you exactly how to use it.

Configuring the CMR

The CMR Editor consists of 3 different parts: the Blueprint editor where you create the CMR template, The values you enter in the Blueprint editor and the layout. Via search for Blueprint editor list you can create your own CMR blueprint. You then fill in the fields as shown in the picture below. After filling in the code unit, press Initialize Codeunit. Then the fields appear below. You also need to upload an image of a CMR as a template for the visualization. You can use the editor fields and the Top value, Left value, Width and Height to place the fields in your CMR.

When you click on preview in your result document header you will see a sample CMR layout for this result. The values are retrieved from the result and visualized. In this ‘preview mode’ you can modify values. It stores these modified values under the Editor standard fields.

These default CMR field values can also be linked to customer or address records. In this case, you specify the CMR field and the value it should contain in the Schedule Editor code. When that customer or address is added to your result, these values are automatically added to the editor's default fields. Note that not all custom fields appear on the printed PMF. This is due to the layout of the CMR.

Printing the CMR

To print the CMR, use report 11154686. As stated above, it depends on the layout of the report which custom fields actually show up on the printed CMR. The layout overrides this, you will then need to create a Custom Layout for this report to make your own rule which Editor default values do need to show up on the printed CMR.
